About Us

We're on a mission to make thoughtful gifting easy, fun, and meaningful.

How It All Started

Actually Something began in 2025 when our founder, Catherine, realized she felt like a phony just texting friends “lmk if you need anything” when they were going through tough times. She wanted something more thoughtful than flowers, more personal than a gift card, but still easy to send without costing an arm and a leg.

After scrolling through endless “care packages” online — overpriced boxes of fuzzy socks and hot cocoa that would take three days to arrive — she had an idea: what if there was a service that curated meaningful care packages for specific situations, with the option to personalize them?

She started small, throwing together boxes from dollar store bags and Trader Joe’s snacks. That scrappy start grew into Actually Something, built on a simple philosophy: low-key effort, high-key felt. Because sometimes you have too much on your plate to show up in person — but you still want them to actually feel your care.

Catherine Geller

Founder & CEO

Actually Something began when Catherine found herself struggling to find the perfect way to show she cared during life's messy moments. She wanted something that was more thoughtful than flowers, more personal than a gift card, but still convenient to send.

After spending countless hours searching for care packages that actually felt genuine and situation-specific, Catherine had an idea: what if there was a service that curated meaningful care packages for real-life moments, with the perfect blend of practical support and emotional intelligence?

Starting with a simple philosophy of "low-key effort, high-key felt," Catherine launched Actually Something to make thoughtful gifting easy, accessible, and meaningful for every situation life throws our way.
